Ivana Trump Dies at 73

Donald Trump's first wife, Ivana Trump, is dead at 73: Complete story here!  

On Thursday, July 14, former President Donald Trump took to the social media platform Truth Social to mourn the death of his ex-wife Ivana Trump. "She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life," Trump said about Ivana, a fashion mogul, author, and model. "Her pride and joy were her three children," adds Trump, who shared three kids, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric Trump, with Ivana.  

Trump's statement further reads, "She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest in Peace, Ivana." Ivana Marie Trump (nee Zelníčková) was married to Donald from 1977 to 1992. No cause of death is revealed at the moment, but officials believe the death may have been accidental as Ivana was found unconscious by the staircase at her New York home.

Among many who mourned the fashion mogul's death was her youngest kid, Eric, who posted an emotional tribute to his late mother on Instagram. "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump," the 38-year-old heir wrote alongside a throwback picture. Eric adds, "Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and a caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country."

Ivana was born on February 20, 1949, in Zlín, now the Czech Republic. She traveled beyond the communist country as a national-level skier. Ivana is said to have skied competitively in and out of the country. She left Czechoslovakia after marrying Austrian ski instructor Alfred Winklmayr in 1971 and obtaining her Austrian citizenship. Ivana spent most of her years until the mid-70s in Canada, where she worked as a ski instructor and a model.

Zelníčková met Trump during one of her work trips to New York in 1976. The pair tied the knots within a year of knowing each other in 1977 and quickly became a recurring couple on tabloids. While posing as the most renowned socialite couple, Trump and Ivana's marriage was going downhill behind the scenes. The pair's troubled marriage came to light in 1989 when Ivana and Trump were spotted having an altercation. After a few nasty accusations and the revelation of infidelity on Donald's part, the duo's divorce was settled in 1992.

Following her high-profile divorce from Trump, Ivana got married twice. The socialite was briefly married to Italian businessman Riccardo Mazzucchelli. Ivana next married model Rossano Rubicondi, who she had dated for six years, in 2008. The pair's grandiose wedding was hosted by Donald. Ivana divorced Rossano in 2009, but the estranged spouses continued to have an on-and-off relationship until 2019.
