There was an immense amount of nudity in the first season of 'The Witcher'; you could probably tell what was to come if you ever played the games or even watched the trailer for a little more focus.
But even so, we were shocked at the amount of nudity on display. Not only by the side characters but one of the main characters of 'Yennefer' herself where the actress playing the character, Anya Chalotra, was game when it comes to shooting nudity herself.
Nudity Was Essential To Further The Plot in The Witcher!
The show did not only do nudity for the sake of it; instead, it was to further the film's plot. But still, most actors are not so keen on doing full-frontal nudity or even semi-nude scenes, but it was not the case for 'Yennefer' actress Anya Chalotra.

For Chalotra, letting someone else portray the character of 'Yennefer' wasn't acceptable. And she did her best to do all the nude scenes herself.
Anya said she had a body double, Flora, on set. But except for the first sex scene with 'Istredd' played by Royce Pierreson, all the others were her. The actress said seeing someone else portray her was uncomfortable. And she wanted to be there for each aspect of 'Yennefer' because it was all part of "acting."
The actress said, "I only used her for the first sex scene because I realized very quickly in that first sex scene that actually, I didn't feel comfortable anyone else portraying Yennefer, because it's still acting isn't it?"

The actress also revealed which scenes in the series were hers and the ones where she used a body double.
Anya said, "But with the audience, yeah, but the wide shot isn't me. The intimacy between Yennefer and Istrid is. Those close-up shots."

Netflix is open to doing anything, and The Witcher used the platform well to show the story they wanted to present to the audience. Nudity was part of the story. Anya agreed to do the scenes due to their importance of it. The actress said,
"The only things that I had to get nude for were the scenes, the transformation scene, and other scenes which actually really did develop the story and really need to, you know…"
Anya shot the part semi-nude in the transformation scene. It is also where the character sheds her previous life to become one of the most beautiful sorceresses on the Continent. The determination of the actress was also on full display when she said the prosthetic made her feel inferior, but it all added to her character.
